Legendary actor found dead today in his California home
After 90 years, a beloved actor has passed away.
Famous for his roles in “The Bodyguard,” “Night at the Museum,” and “New Jack City,” he left an indelible mark on the movie industry. His brother, Thomas G. Cobbs, a pastor, confirmed the sad news on Facebook: “Bill died peacefully at his home in California on June 25.”
He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his loved ones, who he cherished deeply. He was a devoted partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather, and friend.
“We are all comforted by the thought that he has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time.”

His niece, Bethany Cobbs, shared a heartwarming picture of him with his family earlier this month to celebrate his birthday. With a smile on his face, the star sat in a soft brown chair.

Bill Cobbs was born on June 16, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as a radar technician in the US Air Force for eight years before pursuing an acting career. At age 36, he moved to New York to chase his dream, performing in numerous plays while living in the city.
His film career began with “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three” in 1974. Throughout his career, he appeared in numerous TV shows, including “October Road,” “The Outer Limits,” “The Sopranos,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “CSI,” “Criminal Minds,” and “The Drew Carey Show.” His notable films include “Oz the Great and Powerful,” “That Thing You Do!,” “The Hitter,” “Trading Places,” “The Color of Money,” and “The Ultimate Gift.”
His final film role was in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” released in 2022, and his last TV show aired in 2020. Over the course of his career, he appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows.
